Spot color printing creates brighter, more vibrant results, but with a smaller colour range. When printing in single (spot) colors, a single color ink (normally with a Pantone reference number) is applied to the printing press roller. If there is just one colour to be printed, there will be a single plate, and a single run of the press. If there are two colors, there will be two plates and two runs, and so on. The colors are layered onto the paper one by one.
In terms of G10 for a normal print run all artwork should be in CMYK.
If you require a spot colour just that alone should be a spot Pantane colour.
It is commonly used for a spot Gold or Silver but can be for any colour. Spot colours are at an extra cost, please enquire for a quote.
You can check this on your PDF when you go to output preview > Separations on the bottom of the box. If you want a spot colour this should appear separate to the standard CMYK, and when you untick it should all disappear, this shows you what will be printed in the spot colour.
Please inquire at G10 Design and Print LTD for any queries.
